This is my first solo recording since my son Ben and my daughter Katherine were born. As a father of young children, I found that I had to change the way I approached the recording process. I invited some really wonderful guest musicians to play with me at times but more often I played all the instruments myself in short, spontaneous sessions when the kids were asleep or when my wife took them on an outing. Fortunately, I got my hands on some decent portable recording equipment during this time and it allowed me to record just about anywhere on a moment's notice. As a result, you'll hear little sounds from my home in the background, including our pet birds, a distant train whistle, and the joyful sound of my son thundering down the steps to wish me goodnight. This is about as far from a sterile studio recording as you can get. The cover art for this CD is a still from my "Process" video.
